October is National Safe Work Month – Become a Safety Champion
October is National Safe Work Month, a Safe Work Australia Initiative. Safe Work Australia was established in 2008 as a national level body to provide both guidance and increase awareness on work health and safety. Safe Work Month works towards this purpose, representing an opportunity for both workers and employers across Australia to recommit to building safe and healthy workplaces and communities.
The 2019 National Safe Work Month theme is “Be a Safety Champion”, demonstrating the importance of everyone’s role in health and safety culture. Anyone and everyone can, and should, be promoting safety culture in their workplace and community.
The below checklist was created by Safe Work Australia to empower individuals in their journey to becoming a safety champion. This checklist allows you to assess what you are already doing to lead health and safety at your workplace, and provides some guidance on what to do next.
